J&M Industries, Inc. Celebrates 50 Years Milestone
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FEBRUARY 1, 2023
Ponchatoula, LA: February 2023 marks the 50th Anniversary Year of J&M Industries, Inc. (J&M), a family-owned and operated business. This milestone is a significant achievement for J&M on its mission to provide excellence and innovation to the many industries they serve. The Company has grown from a two-person operation recycling used coffee bags in a garage in New Orleans to one of the premier tarp manufacturers in the United States, employing over 100 people nationwide.
Company President Maurice Gaudet, IV remarks: “We have achieved this historic milestone through the hard work and dedication of our owners, management, and employees with our focus on providing quality products and services to our many loyal customers over the years.”
From humble beginnings in the 1970s, J&M experienced five acquisitions in the 1980s that brought new product lines to support the existing bag and tarp business. Continued growth led to the 1992 construction of a new 80,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, with subsequent additions of another 80,000 sq. ft. In response to market demand, they opened a 28,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Rayne, Louisiana, primarily servicing the seafood industry. In 2015, J&M expanded again by constructing a state-of-the-art, clear-span building measuring 120,000 sq. ft. to manufacture enormous tarps in its Ponchatoula location. Most recently, in 2018, J&M rebranded the divisions of the Company into separate subsidiaries, creating JMI Legacy Manufacturing, L.L.C., JMI Distribution, L.L.C., and JMI Covers, L.L.C.
Today, J&M and its family of Companies continue to add new product lines while leveraging their custom tarp manufacturing expertise. Gaudet continues, “We are immensely proud of our traditions of excellence and our dedication to 50 years of product innovations and manufacturing expertise. We look forward to having the opportunity to continue serving our customers for the next 50 years!”
